The importance of good careers guidance.

The need for good careers information, advice and guidance has never been so important. We are living in an ever-changing world, especially in the Humber area where we are seeing large skills gaps in Engineering and Health Sciences and Social Care where advances in technology continue to shape both the future jobs market, and the key skills that our young people need. Providing students with Labour Market Information regarding potential job roles, allows them to make informed decisions around their futures.

Every young person needs high-quality career guidance to make informed decisions about their future. Good career guidance is a necessity for social mobility: those young people without significant social capital or home support to draw upon have the most to gain from high-quality career guidance.

Young people do not make career decisions in isolation and parents/carers can have a substantial impact, as well as a clear interest in the right outcomes for their child. ENL UTC is keen to foster positive parental involvement in the careers programme, wherever possible.
