Physical Education

Our high quality curriculum is designed and delivered by an experienced specialist in Physical Education from a practical and theoretical sense. Designed with the intention of inspiring students to both fulfil their potential in a range of sports and, more importantly, enjoy their experiences. This will promote a lifelong love of physical activity.

This lifelong love of physical activity can be seen through improved mental health (head), physical well being (heart) and physical literacy (hands). The variety of roles available through the delivery of our curriculum allows for all to act in a professional, responsible and loyal manner, embedding the UTC’s key ethos.

Our lessons take place in the hall, where students will participate in hockey, handball, volleyball, football, badminton, basketball, fitness, short tennis, pickleball, netball and dance based activities. While our outdoor quad area is suitable for the delivery of football, team building, cricket and volleyball.

We also have access to the Skills Hub where table tennis, team building and fitness activities can be delivered to groups. All activities rotate for each class every 4 weeks to provide as diverse a range of activities possible.

We are also part of the Youth Sport Trust’s Children & Young People’s Physical Literacy Toolkit pilot.

Extra-curricular activities run 3 nights a week, Monday – Wednesday. These rotate on a half termly basis between football, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, cricket and our bespoke ‘Active Girls’ sessions.
