Professional Ethics and Worldviews

At ENLUTC, our Professional Ethics and Worldviews curriculum is designed to foster open-minded, respectful, and thoughtful learners. We aim to develop students’ understanding of diverse beliefs and worldviews while nurturing Fundamental British Values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and personal responsibility. Through engaging with ethical questions and real-world issues, students build spiritual, moral, social, and cultural awareness, and learn to articulate and evaluate their own perspectives with confidence and clarity.

Main Aims

  • Promote respect and tolerance for different beliefs and cultures
  • Encourage critical thinking and ethical reasoning
  • Develop faith literacy relevant to national and local contexts
  • Support students’ personal development and emotional wellbeing
  • Prepare students for professional environments through discussion, empathy, and respectful debate

What We Cover

Year 9

In Year 9, students explore foundational questions about existence, personhood, and morality—examining topics such as philosophy, religion and science, life after death, and ethical dilemmas like abortion and euthanasia. They also begin to understand how worldviews shape responses to justice, inequality, and environmental care.

Year 10 & 11

In Years 10 and 11, learners deepen their understanding through thematic units that cover belief systems in Britain, the role of religion in society, and contemporary issues like relationships, peace and conflict, and mental wellbeing. The curriculum emphasizes debate, empathy, and ethical reasoning, while linking classroom learning to real-world contexts and professional environments. By the end of Key Stage 4, students are well-prepared to navigate complex moral landscapes with confidence, compassion, and clarity

Why a STEM education?

The word STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM subjects are important as not only do they pervade every part of our lives but is also a hugely exciting area, offering the chance for individuals to continue changing and developing the world we live in. At its very core, a STEM education is about a young individuals ability to make a meaningful connection between school, community and global issues.

  • Science is everywhere. Studying science provides a better understanding of the world around us and continues to help shape the modern world we live in
  • Technology is continuously expanding into every aspect of our lives. It makes the world run efficiently and serves a variety of purposes to different people
  • Engineering covers a wide range of disciplines and helps to find solutions for everyday problems. As the world continues to change, engineers are usually found at the forefront of much of these developments
  • Mathematics is used on a daily basis, far more often then you may realise! Maths helps us to think analytically and have better reasoning abilities
